Day 525
Summary: He's older and hospitalized, but able to sit upright in bed enough to play video games, an IV rather conspicuously in his arm and other hospital machinery behind him as he faces the TV set up on a stand. He's playing a fighting game, getting excited about nearly beating the computer controlled opponent when a tall young man enters the room, distracting him - and to his dismay, causing him to lose the match.
Hizumi asks what brings Rutherford here, and Rutherford explains that looking at the clinical trials Hizumi doesn't have long to live, so he decided to see him one last time before he goes. Hizumi's fine with that, but states he's not apologizing for anything. Rutherford responds that it's too bad, because if he had, Rutherford was ready to strangle him to death... because if he were ready to repent so easily, that would mean he wouldn't have what it takes to face what's still ahead. Hizumi smiles back, agreeing.
As Rutherford turns to leave, Hizumi calls out to him and asks him to tell Ayumu "Go wherever it is you want to reach" once Hizumi's dead. Rutherford asks why wait until after he's died, and Hizumi gives a bittersweet smile.
"Because if you told him while I'm still alive, it'd sound phony, you know?"
Notes;
-No other visitors, as usual.
-Still using a phony Kansai dialect.
