Backstory:
Hizumi is one of the first human clones, cloned from the genes of a man who also happened to be the devil (it makes sense kind of ish in context, just roll with it). That man, Yaiba Mizushiro was known for his high charisma and intelligence, drawing people to him. He was easily able to gain much power, being a generally good man. But at the age of twenty, he suddenly became cold, as though hating the entire human race… He used his power to convince people that it would behoove society if many of his children were to be born, inheriting his intelligence and skill. Thanks to the wonders of technology, he was able to pass on his genes to some eighty children, then on referred to as the Blade Children. Unfortunately, while they did inherit his many good traits: intelligence, artistry, charisma, etc. they also inherited his need for violence against humans. Much as homo sapiens triumphed over the Neanderthals, these children were to destroy and replace the human race with their superior attributes. The very people who helped Yaiba were appalled when they found the true nature of his plans. However, no matter what they did, they could not kill him…

It was then that Kiyotaka Narumi entered the scene, the “God” to Yaiba’s devil and the only one able to lay a hand on him. Kiyotaka killed Yaiba and organized people involved in the Blade Child project, keeping an eye on the Blade Children and the one final child created with Yaiba’s exact DNA: Hizumi Mizushiro.

Hizumi, for his part, had a very ordinary childhood. Unaware of his origins, he grew up with two loving “parents” – in reality two involved in the project with a sympathetic view towards Yaiba’s kin, known as the Savers, faction. He was an almost angelic child; kind, smart, and overall – good. When he was ten, he was told of his origins as a clone, and the existence of the Blade Children and their intended purpose. But rather than despair, he became excited at the prospect – if this was all true, maybe his true purpose as the devil’s clone was not to further Yaiba’s plan, but instead find a way to stop it. He imagined himself as a hero, overturning a fate of bloodshed and instead becoming a kindly savior.

He entered an American college at the age of 13 and studied genetics, figuring it would be the best field to tackle the challenge of his and the Blade Children’s bloodline. Unfortunately… this research only brought despair. No matter what he did, he could not find even a single possibility of salvation. And as he became increasingly desperate, he came across the final nail in the coffin – his cloning had been imperfect, and as a result his cells would shut down on a molecular level. At the best, he would live only to about nineteen or twenty years of age – not even long enough to become the cruel devil everyone feared, just as his predecessor.

He fell into despair, realizing he had not only been utterly defeated by his fate, but was also destined for a life of loneliness – for who else could understand a life like his? He began to seek an end, attempting suicide dozens of times, to the point of losing count. Of course, not a single one worked – Yaiba’s blood ensured that. Eventually, he was put under close surveillance, and was later picked up by Kiyotaka and taken along on the older man’s travels. During this time, he began to hear stories of Kiyotaka’s “little brother”, in fact a clone of the man and thus the one who could not only kill Hizumi, but understand him on a level no other person in the world could. It seemed this clone, Ayumu Narumi, had grown up in the shadow of his brother, and yet… slowly but surely, he was gaining the faith of the Blade Children, who considered him their last hope. Hizumi, of course, realized their hopes were misplaced, but his interest in Ayumu was piqued. If they were to meet, his loneliness was sure to end – either with his death, or by winning Ayumu’s friendship and thus truly damning the Blade Children to death at the hands of the Hunter faction.

Eventually, the time came, and Hizumi was granted Kiyotaka's permission to live in the apartment Kiyotaka previously shared with his wife - which was, coincidentally, Ayumu's current home. After a botched attempt to meet Ayumu while he was hospitalized after a rather harrowing battle with one of the Blade Children, Hizumi was eventually able to greet Ayumu on his way out, quickly introducing himself and leading the way back as he explained the housing situation as a cheaper alternative to living out of a hotel. He'd been careful to clean and maintain the apartment during Ayumu's absence, making every effort to come across as endearing as possible. He made it clear from the start that his only plan was to play around until Ayumu killed him-- or "until he dies," if that's easier to handle.

Once Ayumu's friend left Hizumi and Ayumu to it, he made a single attempt - a knife, hidden behind the apron he used while washing the dishes after their welcome home snack, aimed for Ayumu's throat in a test. But not only did Hizumi find himself unable to go through with the act, Ayumu pointed out that even if he died, Hizumi would only be dooming himself through such a crime, proving that they could be killed and marking himself for the next victim of the Hunters. Cowed, Hizumi set aside the knife, and the two quickly returned to a peaceful atmosphere discussing their fates over yogurt.
