[It's slow progress. But as he smashes through more and more concrete, water becomes steadily visible, creeping through the cracks.]

[It is slow going, but he's tenacious, holding onto the sledgehammer with his left hand and threading his right arm underneath to give himself leverage]

[He has to stop several times to shake that arm out, but he keeps at it, encouraged by the sight of the water]

[Slowly but surely, his tenacity is rewarded.

The concrete breaks away, and more and more water becomes visible - a veritable pond of water, strangely clear and cool considering the circumstances.

There is now water available for the gardens.]

Oh, thank goodness.

[He sighs with relief -- drags the sledgehammer back to its place in the shed and fills the watering can before returning to the first garden, where he had the fertilizer ready]
