[A pause, and then a little laugh.] It's a defense mechanism, if you haven't figured it out by now. Keeps people at a distance. Means a lot of them don't really like me that much, but I prefer it that way.
I'm not half as scary as I pretend.
[Though honestly? An illusion-wielding stalker of a sexual predator could be pretty damned scary in its own way.]
--Ah, but don't get me wrong. I'm real grateful you're nice enough to look in on me like this. Sittin' around all by myself wouldn't have been much fun.
[After an event like that? It would have been agonizing.]
Heh, nah it's fine. I don't mind checking in once in a while. It's a good way to keep you out of trouble, after all. [Total deflection. She had a feeling after that event 'alone' was a bad idea.]
[It's while they're home alone together that Ayumu approaches Hizumi about the subject-- the news spreading about town, that the gods had found a way to allow the travelers to stay. Not only that, but to come and go as they please.
But not the memories to take with them. That would be far too lucky for them, wouldn't it.....?
Still, it was a workable possibility for at least one of them, in Ayumu's mind, and it's for that reason he peers into Hizumi's room with mugs of tea.]
He'd been reading, mostly for the sake of something to do, but the book is quickly laid aside as he offers a faint smile. Like he doesn't suspect at all what this conversation will be about, given they're the only two around at the moment.]
[Ayumu steps into the room, holding up the mugs of tea. He wasn't sure how this conversation would go..... but he'd thought to bring something to ease the conversation, at least.] Thought you might want a drink. Can I come in?
[That hesitation is noted, and Ayumu mentally steels himself for what he'd come to say as he sits down on the edge of the bed, passing over a mug of tea to Hizumi.] Thanks.
[He takes a sip of his own tea once hizumi takes the mug, mulling over how to start this. He'd spent a long time thinking about the wording, but.....]
[He takes it without a word, his gaze lowered. Several different conversation topics spring to mind, but in the end, they're all just weak attempts at delaying the inevitable. Ayumu could cut through them in a moment if he needed to.
Ahh... is it even worth it to try? Trying hasn't had a habit of getting him anywhere these days. Even if he struggles and fights, the likelihood of it getting him anywhere is low.
Wrapped up in indecision as he is, Ayumu will have plenty of time to speak first.]
[Hizumi's body language is telling, and Ayumu's voice comes out with just a hint of pause, of hesitation.... more than he likes.] So what did you think of it.....?
